Instructor: Phillip Schaefer
Course Description: We're often taught to think outside the box and color outside the lines, and philosophically speaking, that is great advice. This workshop, however, will take a microscope to language and attempt to dissect the logic and maneuvers concerning each word on the page and their relationship to those surrounding them. In one sense we will write first drafts of poems, and in another sense we will destroy them. One or two words may make it to the second draft. A few more to the third. The goal is to be okay playing Mr. Potato Head with our ideas. To sever our own desires. To drink the turpentine while swallowing the red pill. Or something. We will write, we will discuss, and we will create portals to new poem worlds through utter decimation. Who's in?!
